Volunteer

Lending a hand

Many of the people who help run Involvement Centres are volunteers.

If you have lived experience of mental health or addiction challenges yourself, or support someone who does, volunteering at a Centre can give you the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping others.

It can also be an excellent way to support your own recovery at the same time.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, we suggest that you visit your local Involvement Centre, meet the staff and visitors, and get a feel for the place.

The local Centre Lead will be able to tell you more about what’s involved.

This might include welcoming other visitors and making them feel at home, or doing some simple housekeeping chores.

Volunteering times are flexible, to suit your needs.

There will always be someone else at the Centre to support you, so being a volunteer doesn’t mean taking the weight of the world on your shoulders.

Involvement Centres will provide training, which you can join online or in person.

Potential volunteers are required to undergo Garda vetting.

If you have queries or concerns, please feel free to give us a call.
